Preuvenemint is a four-day culinary event on the Vrijthof square in the city of Maastricht. It is held yearly in the last full weekend of august, so on the last sunday of august and the three days preceding it. Consequently, Preuvenemint 2010 is held from thursday august 26 until, and included, sunday august 29. The Vrijthof square will then established with some fourty stands, in a nice setting, where one can taste delicious food and wine, and enjoy a large variety of live music.
The word Preuvenemint is a contraction of the Maastricht words 'preuve' (to taste) and 'evenemint' (event). And an event where you can taste all the good things of life is exactly what it is.
Over thirty stands are functioning as a restaurant; beer and softdrinks are available in four large stands, and the live music is played from a permanent open-air stage. This makes the Maastricht Preuvenemint the largest open air restaurant in the world, and the cosyest, by far. There is no entrance fee; special Preuvenemint bills (the so called preuvene-lappe) to pay your consumptions are available at a handful of places over the square. Prices for beer and softdrinks are 1 preuvenelap; every restaurant-stand has at least one fine thing that you can taste for 2 preuvenelappe; exquise food is of course more expensive. The live music is completely free.
The proceeds of the Preuvenemint will be fully spent on good causes.
The 29th edition of the Preuvenemint festivity will be held in august 2010.
